- Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of seed potatoes, potatoes, corn, wheat, annual grass cover crops, and alfalfa/hay.
The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to farm mechanics and maintenance.
Farm Machinery Maintenance Work will include the following responsibilities: analyze, remove, disassemble, and re-assemble major components and equipment systems under the supervision of the employer. Agricultural equipment includes trailers, tractors, semis and heavy-duty trucks, skid steers, work trucks, excavation equipment, forage/hay equipment, tillage equipment, and a self-propelled chopper, harvesters, windrowers, dikers, and forklifts. Drive farm trucks and Ag exempt, non-CDL semi/10-wheel trucks on, or between, farm worksites; maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. dismantle defective equipment for repair, reassemble, and test machines and equipment. Make necessary adjustments for optimal performance. Clean, lubricate, fuel, and service machines routinely; record details of repairs and maintenance. Operate or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment; repair defective engines, motors, or components and replace if required. Maintain shops and tools clean and in an orderly manner; clean and sanitize equipment with power washer and chemical disinfectant/cleaner, tools, trailers, trucks, warehouse equipment, and shops; perform manufacturers prescribed annual, post and pre-season equipment maintenance, inspections, and winterizations. Inspection/replace bearings, blades, brakes, belts, gear heads, air hoses, chains, tires, wheels, hydraulic lines, worn components, filters, surfacing and welding of cracks, etc.; drain oil and replace with new oil. apply grease to wear/friction points; repair/replace tires; flush radiators; change filters; work directly with shop manager to order parts, supplies, and drive to town to pick up mechanical supplies/parts when necessary; workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers.
