- Job Duties:
- Employees will perform all necessary and ordinary labors of a substantial agricultural operation. Job duties will require the operation of large machinery, including but not limited to: tractors with various implements, sprayers, backhoes, excavators, forklifts, combines, and cotton pickers. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job duties will also require performing general mechanical work in the farm shop and repairing implements or machinery that need maintenance or repair in the field; changing combine cutting heads; performing duties on foot including, but not limited to, laying irrigation pipe, maintaining irrigation pipe lines, puncturing irrigation pipe at set intervals, and ensuring that the water is properly distributed to the crop; lay and maintain furrow irrigation lines; using hand tools in fields to perform repair and maintenance, ensure proper field conditions, and remove undesirable plant varieties; performing maintenance of water drainage areas including, but not limited to, culverts and animal made dams; maintaining and operating center irrigation pivots; performing shop work such as lifting objects, cleaning, sweeping, and organizing shop when necessary; greasing, maintaining, and repairing shop items; using welding equipment, torches, grinders, and other machinery tools; walking fields to evaluate and observe problems; and shoveling dirt when necessary to help water move the proper direction down the row. Employees will be expected to perform physical labor and must be physically able and willing to be a part of the solution to physical tasks that are necessary to perform. Required to report directly to farm management with punctuality, a proper attitude, and a willingness to learn. Workers will be asked to perform all necessary and ordinary labors of a substantial farming operation. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
