- Job Duties:
- Weed, hoe, plant, pick, wash, and crate vegetable crops. Use fence post driver to drive tomato stakes into the ground. Transplant crops. Work in the greenhouse planting, filling soil, and watering. Load and unload trucks during farmer's market days. Unload the alfalfa hay, Bermuda, and other grasses in the barn. Clean up fields by pulling up old plants, plastic mulch, and drip irrigation tape. Move irrigation pipes on vegetable crops and alfalfa hay if needed. Use hoes to pick produce. Utilize the wash line in the packing shed. Use a post hole driver and puller to drive and remove stakes from the ground. Use knives and clippers to harvest vegetables. Work with cattle by separating and rounding them up. Mow and weed pastures and lawns. Haul hay to barns. Repair barns, sheds, and any other tasks as needed on the farm. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Workers who perform sloppy work may be suspended without pay for the remainder of a workday or for up to three days in the sole judgment of their supervisor, depending on the degree of infraction, the worker’s prior record, and other relevant factors. Discharge of the worker may result from any subsequent offense.
No tobacco, E-cigarette, alcohol, drugs, including cannabis is permitted at all during the workday. Workers may not report for work under the influence of beer, liquor, or illegal drugs. Illegal drugs may not be used or kept on any employer premises, including housing.
Personal cell phones need to be left in the worker's house, vehicle, or checked in the office during the workday.
Workers may not drop paper, cans, bottles or other trash in fields, packing house area, or on housing premises. Trash and waste receptacles must be used.
Workers may not take unauthorized breaks from work.
Workers may not leave the field or other assigned work area without permission of farmer or person in charge.
Workers may not enter employer’s premises without authorization.
Workers living in employer’s housing may not entertain guests in housing premises after 10:30 p.m. No persons other than workers assigned by employer to a room may sleep in housing.
Workers may not deliberately restrict production.
