- Job Duties:
- Drives and operates farm machines to grow and harvest a combination of kinds of crops such as berries, vegetables, and flowers. Attaches farm implements such as plow, discs, seed drill, manure spreader, and trailers and running gears to the tractor and drives the tractor and operates implements in the field and barnyard. Manually plant, cultivate and harvest berries, vegetables, flowers, and field crops using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include tilling, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning, picking, cleaning, packing, and loading crops. May construct trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities. Set up and operate irrigation equipment. Adjust, repair, and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Inform managers of crop progress. Clean and maintain irrigation ditches. Record information about crops, yields, or costs. Must have six months of verifiable experience in the above.
