Job Duties:
Workers will perform various duties associated with the employer’s commercial greenhouse/nursery. This job order is being filed for a farmworker. Crops: Cotton, Corn, Soybeans, Wheat Plant, Cultivate and harvest crops including soybeans, corn, cotton, wheat by hand or machine. Operate, repair and maintain tractors and other farm vehicles and equipment. Prepare land for planting using a machine to clear and level fields, till soil and manually pick up roots. Operate machinery to plant and harvest soybeans, corn, cotton, wheat. Once soybeans, corn, cotton are harvested, workers will unload harvested crops into trailers and monitor and control moisture. Shovel grain into auger. Carry supplies including bags to the field. Cultivate and thin crops using a hoe. Remove undesirable and excess growth such as tassels, suckers, and weeds using hand tools or by hand. Load and unload seed and/or fertilizer. Walk fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops. Use shovels for end of season draining of fields. Walk fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops from wells. Attach farm implements, such as a plow, disc, and drill to tractor. Drive trucks to supplies, tools, or farm workers on or off the farm. Repair and maintain farm equipment and implements. Participate in irrigation activities including repairing underground irrigation. Work in groups to set up irrigation equipment, including carrying lines and putting in underground emitters. Operate irrigation equipment. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Use pick ax and shovel to make new irrigation ditches in the field. Use brooms, blowers, shovels and vacuum cleaning devices to clean barns, trucks and other equipment. Use mowers and weed eaters on employer’s premises around wells, buildings and farm equipment. Farm, Field and Shed sanitation duties. Assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. Farm Equipment Operation: Workers may be required to operate tractors, trucks, and other farm equipment during daily operations, as an incidental activity. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, workers will be instructed in the safety and operation of the tractor before driving the tractor. Tractors should be driven in a manner to protect operator, other workers, products, trees, crops, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination. GENERAL CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO ALL CROPS: Fieldwork begins at assigned time shortly after daylight. Work may be performed during light rain and in high humidity and in temperatures ranging from 110 degrees to 20 degrees F. Workers will perform the majority of tasks standing in the upright position and can expect to stand on their feet for extended periods of time. Some tasks, however, require workers to perform activities on their feet in stooped or crouched position for long periods of time. Workers will use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, such as potted plants. Workers will frequently lift weights of 75 lbs. consistently. Workers will supply their own work clothes. All the tasks in this Job Description constitute one (1) job; the employer may assign workers to different tasks on any day or to multiple tasks during the same day in the sole judgment of the employer. Workers may be required to perform work, on the farm, that that is incidental to farming the crops listed in the application, such as performing hand cultivation tasks, bedding and potting plants, weeding or hoeing, cleaning and repairing farm buildings, pallets, seed beds, racks, grounds, mowing, weed eating, operate tractor/farm equipment, sprayers, incidental crop set up, move irrigation pipes and equipment, gardening, weeding and shrubbing, etc. All other duties assigned under this order will be those duties of SOC 45-2092.00 Farmworkers and Labors, Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse. Sloppy work cannot and will not be tolerated.

Special Requirements:
All applicants must have at least 3 months experience working on a commercial farm. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Work outside in hot, humid, wet and/or cold weather conditions; walk, sit, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, carry and load 50 lbs. repeatedly; climb ladders on grain bins up to 100ft tall. Hazardous occupation.
