- Farm Equipment Operator 1- Job Description:
Operate and maintain various types of farm equipment: Tractors, Trucks, Center Pivots, Loaders,Pilers, Skid Steers, Telehandlers, Hogs, irrigation equipment and other farm equipment in a safeand effi cient manner.
Operate farm equipment like tractor and other farm equipment for planting, tillage, cultivatingand harvesting of organic and conventional crops and irrigation equipment.
Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, mowers, or harvesters to tractors and others farm implements using bolts and hand tools.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs to equipment as needed and ensure that the farm equipment is in good working condition and adheres to all applicable safety rules. Assist mechanics with repairs. *Grease and check hydraulic fluids daily.
Maintain equipment used in agricultural production and fi eld preparation such as tractors ,irrigation equipment, 4- wheelers, trucks, and other commonly used equipment in agriculture.
Operate, Monitor, maintain and repair the irrigation system for a specified area of the farm. Follow all applicable safety procedures.
Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery.
Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery.
Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers.
Maintain and operate corn facility equipment.
Assist with cutting seeds operating and maintain conveyors, moving equipment and other types of farm equipment.
Irrigate green areas using portable pipes and maintain pipes, sprinklers and pumps.
Maintain green areas using little tractors with mowers, lawn tractors, and Trimmers.
Drive vehicles to haul crops, supplies, farmworkers, tools.
Workers may drive vans that seat 14 or less passengers. Employees that want to be drivers must possess a valid driver’s license. The driver’s license is not a pre-hire job requirement. They will drive workers from living quarters to work sites throughout the day, and vice versa, and provide one weekly trip to workers to purchase groceries (transportation is provided for workers who must be provided housing under the applicable regulation). There is no set schedule or designateddrivers for the vans.
The Employer attests that all workers will be properly trained in the Worker Protections Standard(WPS) by qualified WPS trainers who have completed an EPA-approved Train-the-Trainer course pursuant to the Oregon Department of Agriculture
