Job Duties:

Pruning grape vines-cutting off excess growth of dormant vines Tying grape vines- fixing vines to wires with twistems and string Suckering grape vines- removing excess growth at base of grape vine Shoot positioning- organizing new vine growth ( up and down) on grape vines Planting grape vines- placing vines in new vineyards and replacing vines in established vineyards Fruit removal- removing fruit from vine by hand Spot spraying- spraying weeds with herbicide Post pounding- placing post in a given spot to be pounded by machine Wire placement- putting wire in vineyard and stapling wire to post Stone picking- removing stones from field using hands and backhoe Tractor work- driving tractor with an attachment ( mower, spot sprayer, etc.)

Outside work in upstate New York Freezing temps and highs in the 80s and 90s in summer Walking from plant to plant Sitting on equipment while operating equipment Bending over when removing shoots at bottom of grape vine, and tying up young vines.
