Job Duties:

1. Work in and assists in all areas of greenhouse plant production and maintenance including but not limited to, seeding, transplanting, watering, thinning, propagating, potting, soil-less mis preparation, container filling, planting, spraying, weeding, fertilizing and preparing fertilizer. 2. Responsible for field production, and maintenance including, but not limited to, planting, weeding, transplanting, soil preparation, setting irrigation, laying and pulling up ground cover, picking, cutting, washing herbs, vegetables and flowers. 3. Helps maintain greenhouse environmental controls through venting, temperature control, heating, irrigation and shading. 4. Learns crop protection techniques and the ability to recognize, diagnose, and properly treat plants. Distributes biological insects. Receives pesticide training. Mixes and applies chemicals and fertilizers, as needed under supervision of licensed applicator. 5. Works with other Farm staff to clean and maintain greenhouse growing and surrounding areas. Recycles, removes trash, sterilizes, sweeps, and performs any other tasks necessary to maintain a tidy, clean environment. 6. May operate and maintain equipment. 7. May assist in greenhouse repair and maintenance. Position Requirements: Minimum of one month experience in horticultural and agricultural experience is required. Must be self-motivated, well organized and posses strong communication skills. Must be physically fit, able to lift 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods. This position involves both inside and outside work in both hot and cold weather. Work requirements necessitate overtime hours and weekend work: normal work-week is 5 days. In accordance with labor regulations for agricultural employees, non-exempt employees working over 40 hours will be paid at their regular hourly rate of pay. Position requires carrying a two-way radio at all time while on duty. Valid drivers license may be required.
