The job Order had been approved The General Farm Ranch Hand position will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of cattle and hay. Duties will include the following: check physical characteristics, observe general condition of livestock and apply the appropriate care, examine animals to detect illness/injury/disease, apply or administer medications/vaccines, drive equipment, herd livestock to various pastures, sort cattle; 4-wheeler to move cows; assist with branding; confine livestock in stalls, clean/disinfect livestock corrals/stalls/sheds, dock, castrate, brand, clip/tag and clamp livestock. Occasionally, fences require maintenance to repair broken posts and wires . Sort the cattle for branding, shipping and moving from pasture to pasture. Irrigating of hay fields, preparation of fields for farming using tractors and drags to clear debris, cleaning of ditches, operating haying equipment to help cut and harvest hay, servicing haying equipment. Instruction and general supervision will be provided by the farm manager or a designated employee. However, the worker must perform duties without close supervision and listen to, understand and follow simple instructions of the employer or supervisor. All tools, supplies and equipment required to perform the duties assigned will be provided at no charge to the worker. The job entails working with farm animals and machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, wind and cold) and occasional exposure to herding hazards such as cattle stampedes, kicking/bucking horses, mosquitos, poisonous snakes and predators. Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds in the course of performing required activities. Driving required on ranch only.
