- Job Duties:
- Agricultural equipment operator (forklift) loading and unloading bins from trailer and place bins throughout orchard for harvest. Employee must conduct daily maintenance check prior to operating tractor/machine. If a worker wants to use the forklift or pallet jack is required to have basic knowledge of driving a pallet jack/forklift, must pass safety training and demonstrate ability to operate tractor/machine/forklift/ pallet jack in a safe manner. The employer will provide training, the pallet jack/forklift driver certification, and all costs will be the responsibility of the employer. Training will be provided by the Safety Manager who holds a forklift trainer certificate. Once the training is completed, the employer will issue the certificate to the employees.
The Driver will transport workers to and from work each day from assigned accommodations. The driver will perform job duties as assigned by the supervisor, which will vary from time to time based on job location, weather, and other factors. The current driving season is temporary and will last from February to November. The driving season could vary depending on the needs of the crop.
Drivers will be instructed in safety and operation of the vehicles/equipment before driving/operation. Vehicles must be driven in a manner to protect operators, other workers, products, trees, crops, and equipment.
A worker properly authorized by a US state or foreign equivalent with passenger endorsement will transport workers to and from work each day.
Drivers must complete our Authorized Driver process including Fleet Safety.
Drivers must be able to complete a vehicle inspection daily to check the condition of the vehicles and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
Workers will help maintain and clean ag equipment and vehicles such as, but not limited to, field trucks, tractors, all-terrain vehicles, refrigerated trucks, forklifts, and buses.
In case a worker is injured or needs medical attention the driver can transport the workers from the field to the clinic and/or hospital and back to the housing.
Driver Specifications: The employee will pick up workers from housing sites and take them to the worksite, and at the end of the workday, will transport employees back to housing sites. The assigned drivers will provide one weekly trip for workers to purchase groceries (transportation is provided for workers who must be provided housing under applicable regulation). Furthermore, drivers must be able to perform routine vehicle maintenance, such as regulating tire pressure and adding gasoline, oil, and water. In addition, drivers must maintain their vehicles clean by vacuuming and cleaning interiors, and wash and polish exteriors of vehicles as requested by camp managers. Drivers must be fluent in Spanish and be able to communicate verbally with coworkers. Repeated failure to obey safety requirements and operating instructions as listed above may result in termination. All vehicles weigh less than 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight.
General duties:
Loading and unloading empty bins by hand.
Assisting Orchard Manager in daily duties.
Bin repair.
Wash and degrease tractors.
Trapping gophers.
Clean irrigation systems.
Inspect equipment or facilities to determine condition or maintenance needs.
Operate farming equipment.
SQF Monitoring: bathrooms, water, ladders, buckets, bins etc.
Carry out errands for management such as delivering documents to the main office, collecting materials, among others.
Assist the lead mechanic or managers with equipment inventories. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process.
