Job Duties:
Crops/Commodities: nursery stock. First-line supervision and coordination of agricultural workers. Under the direction of farm management, assign tasks and monitor crop production operations. Train workers in techniques such as planting, cultivating, or harvesting and in use of safety measures. Train workers in safe equipment operation. Take directions from managers on work schedules, production requirements, and conditions of equipment and supplies. Maintain details of personnel actions. Operate employer's electronic time keeping system. First-line supervisors do not have direct hiring or firing authority, but may be asked by farm management to give warnings or take disciplinary action against works for safety or work rule violations. Workers may need to read printed orders to pull plants, BB's, and trees. Workers may need to load product on trays, wagons, rolling plant racks. Workers may need to load/unload plants, BB's, trees that get backhauled from treeyard. Workers may need to tarp and untarp trucks and trailers with plants/trees on them. Workers may need to sweep/blow off trucks/trailers after they are unloaded. Workers may need to water plant orders after they are pulled/loaded on trucks/trailers. Workers may need to water plant orders in staging areas prior to loading. Workers may need to grease/oil rollers on tarpside trailers after trailers are freed from dirt/debris. Workers may need to drive tractors pulling wagons with plant orders on them. Workers may need to drive wheeled loaders/skidsteer loaders to load/unload trays, rolling plant racks, trees, bb's onto trucks/trailers. Workers may need to drive quad to pull plant orders. Workers may need to drive RTV to pull plant orders. Workers may need to wrap rolling plant racks after loading with shrink wrap. Workers may need to work with water rolling plant racks after loaded with plants. Workers may need to work securing loaded trees, bb's, loaded rolling plant racks with ratchet straps on trucks and trailers. Workers may need to work tying branches of trees, bb's up to ensure safe transport when loaded onto trucks/trailers. Workers may need to work tying branches of loaded trees/bb's down to ensure proper closer and transport of trailers. Workers may need to work re-burlapping trees/bb's rootballs with burlap, rope and pinning nails. Workers may need to work retying wire baskets to trunks of trees/bb's with rope. Workers may need to work washing interiors and exteriors of equipment including trucks, loaders, tractors, trailers. Workers may need to work removing and re-installing drip lines that are moved in the process of pulling plant orders. Workers may need to work repairing any irrigation damaged while pulling orders. Workers may need to work with grease, check oil, clean filters, and perform other routine maintenance on all equipment used for pulling, loading, and delivering plant orders. Workers may need to spread stone, dirt, lug bricks to repair nursery roadways and plant storage. Workers may need to repair farm driveways/culverts including grading, smoothing, and digging ditches. Workers may need to work in infrastructure farm construction including repairing hoop houses, growing areas, irrigation new driveways, potting houses, loading zones, parking areas, and break rooms. Workers may need to work in application and removal of poly-film on growing houses. Workers may need to cover/uncover plants with protective blankets, lay down weed barrier under potted plants, propagate plants from cuttings, take cuttings from stock for the purposes of propagation, maintain and enhance the front display beds, including weeding, trash pickup, fertilizing, etc. Workers may need to organize and move, inventory, existing materials including hoop house parts, pots, plant crates, plant trays, and other materials which are part of the nursery. Workers may need to repair hoop houses by replacing or fixing parts, raising the grade with concrete or sand.

Special Requirements:
This job requires a minimum of 6 months of agricultural experience working in a greenhouse overseeing crews handling mechanized and manual tasks. Crew supervisors are responsible for overseeing that farmworkers perform manual tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Applicants must be able to furnish verbal or written statement establishing relevant prior work experience. Saturday work required. Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. Employer-paid pre-employment and post-hire drug testing required. Criminal background check required. Workers must have either a U.S. CDL license with a Class B and Passenger Endorsement or a Mexican CDL - Digital Mexican License with A and B Endorsements. Must be eligible to apply for a Farm Labor Contractor Employee certificate within 30 days of hire.
