Job Duties:
The Farm Plant Puller is an essential member of our operations team. This role is responsible for identifying and pulling ready to sell containerized plants from the operational areas. The ideal candidate should be able to safely and efficiently handle containerized plants, these activities will require bending, stooping, lifting, and moving products from ground level or above the head. All team members are required to adhere to the company safety, quality, and production standards. alongside fellow workers with a positive, professional, team-based attitude and a consideration for the safety and health of fellow workers. DUTIES •Identify, select and pull ready to sell containerized plants with the quality and specification as per guidelines/standards provided by the supervisor. •Load trailers with the ready to sell containerized plants for shipment. •Operate a mule or tractor to transport ready to sell containerized plants from the operational area to the receiving area in a timely manner. •Read and comprehend pulling reports. •Learn and understand how to select plants based on certain specifications, such as plant height, plant species, plant quality and health, pot sizes, shipping methods, and the intended customer of the order. •Follow directions from the team leader regarding Zones in which the different varieties are located. •Adhere to safety protocols and utilize suitable protective gear. •Use appropriate hand-pulling techniques to effectively pull plants without damaging them. •Ensure daily CIL (Cleaning Inspection Lubrication) of assigned equipment. •Perform a pre- and post-use inspection of their equipment and document any defects found. •Report any incidents encountered to the supervisor. •Report critical mechanical issues to the maintenance department. •Follow accident procedures in the event of an accident. -Incidental maintenance of equipment and buildings. WORK STANDARDS Team members will be expected to meet at least 90% of the daily work standards. Below are the average hourly work standards by container size. Leaders will provide team members performance feedback during daily team huddles and one on one meetings. Container Size Work Standards- Units Per Hour 4.3” 1209 6" 806 10" 773 12" 231 14" 154 SPECIFIC HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS •Receive and adhere to training requirements such as New Employee Orientation, Worker Protection Standards, Promoting Respect in a Diverse Employer (PRIDE), etc.  •Attend daily meetings to discuss safety, quality and productivity   •Maintain a clean and safe work environment  •Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere to all Safety Procedures and OSHA regulations  •Report any hazards, work related injuries or near misses immediately to the department supervisor  WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS •Work outdoors and be exposed to elements such as heat, cold, fog and rain  •Stand and walk for long periods of time  •Stoop, bend, lift, and reach with frequency  •Twisting, turning, and squatting is required •Hand movement: Gross grasping for moving plant material •Extensively push and pull containerized plants  •Lift containerized plants weighing up to 40 lbs from ground level   •Lift containerized plants weighing up to 40 lbs to shoulder height and above   •Carry and move containerized plants weighing up to 40lbs repetitively throughout the workday  •At least 3 months of experience in a similar role
