Job Duties:
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest crops, baling hay, packaging and sorting crops, and spreading manure. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, border discs, back-hoes, mowers, track-hoes, swathers, hay rakes, tedders, hay steamers, balers, bale wagons, hay lifts, forklifts, and flail choppers. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Duties include participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining concrete-lined irrigation ditches, repairing irrigation ditches by hand, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; receiving crop for storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; and shoveling grain. Manual duties include hand planting, hand weeding, hand harvesting small plots of organic heirloom crops; re-stacking hay bales when necessary; performing post-harvest cleaning and processing of crops which may involve assisting in the operation of an airscreening machine, a gravity table, a destoner, a polisher, and an optical color sorter; loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; concrete ditch repairs as necessary; monitoring and maintaining property borders; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, barns and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; and spreading manure. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop,weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements:
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English or Spanish literacy and math skills are required. Job requires workers performing duties outdoors during periods when temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Job duties will require periods when workers must push, pull, sit, walk, stoop, bend over, or perform repetitive movements. Random drug screening may be possible post-hire at the employer's expense. Drug testing will be performed in the event of an accident or instance where equipment is wrecked or someone is injured in accordance with farm policy and insurance requirements. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
