Job Duties:
Plant, cultivate and harvest crops including soybeans, com, cotton, wheat, peanuts by machine. Operate, repair, and maintain tractors and other farm vehicles and equipment. Prepare land for planting using a machine to clear and level fields, till soil and manually pick up roots. Operate machinery to plant and harvest soybeans, com, cotton, wheat, and peanuts. Once soybeans and/or com are harvested, workers will unload harvested crops into grain bins and monitor and control moisture. Shovel grain into auger and peanuts onto conveyor. Carry supplies including bags and baling wire to the field. Ride on machinery and brush debris from furrow plowing spouts. Cultivate and thin crops using a hoe. Remove undesirable and excess growth such as tassels, suckers, and weeds using hand tools or by hand. Load and unload seed and/or fertilizer. Attach farm implements, such as a plow, disc, and drill to tractor. Repair and maintain farm equipment and implements. Assemble and repair fences and farm buildings. Participate in irrigation activities including repairing underground irrigation. Work in groups to set up irrigation equipment, including carrying lines and putting in underground emitters. Operate irrigation equipment. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Use pickax and shovel to make new irrigation ditches in the field. Use brooms, blowers, shovels and vacuum cleaning devices to clean grain bins, trucks, and other equipment. Use mowers and weed eaters on employer's premises around wells, buildings, farm equipment and grain bins. Farm, field and shed sanitation duties. As a minor activity workers will cut hay and plant rye grass for cattle by machine. Workers who have a valid driver's license and doctor's certificate may drive transportation vehicles to transport workers and may be offered additional hours. Assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. As a minor activity, workers may plant, cultivate, and harvest soybeans. Feed and water livestock; and monitor food and water supplies. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, and/or pumps. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. May be required to separate/sort livestock according to size and weight. Workers may be required to apply ID tags. Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals. May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. May clean and maintain animal housing areas.

Special Requirements:
All applicants must have at least 3 months farm work experience required. Work outside in hot, humid, wet, and/or cold weather conditions; walk, sit, bend, stoop, reach, push or pull for prolonged periods of time; lift, carry and load 50 lbs. repeatedly; climb ladders on grain bins up to 100 ft tall. Hazardous occupation. Must be eighteen or older. The employer does not employ persons convicted of sex related crimes, violent crimes, or drug related crimes except under extremely limited circumstances. Individual circumstances will be taken into consideration at the request of the applicant.
