- We are approximately a 4500 acre farm that is primarily irrigated by center pivots. We run late model John Deere equipment. Our primary crops are sugar beets, corn, wheat, dry beans, and oats with some minor other crops. Cropping season begins in March with field tillage and planting continuing through to December at the completion of harvest. Over the winter, the ground is frozen and no farming activities occur.
Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: apply products such as fertilizers, pesticides, growth inhibitors, etc., attach/detach implements, be able to handle working in high humidity, clean work areas, haul and spread materials such as but not limited to fertilizer to condition the soil, load crops and drive trucks to transport to and from fields and/or storage locations or facilities, load and unload materials and commodities, load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, maintain grounds and landscaping, maintain inventory, mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter, spreader, sprayer type machinery, operate self propelled machinery, record information about crops, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, set up repair, maintain, and operate specialized equipment, tilling soil, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning crops, use hand tools such as such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives, use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools, work in extreme temperatures; speak and understand English.
Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: air seeders, augers, bins, silos, loading and unloading facilities, bailers and other hay equipment, combines or other harvesting equipment, dirt moving equipment, GPS guidance systems, grain carts, forklift, irrigation equipment, manure spreading equipment, mowers and other landscaping equipment, pickups, cars, etc., planters, self-propelled machinery, semi trucks, skid steers, sprayers, spreaders, straight frame trucks, swathers, bailers, and other hay equipment, tillage equipment, tractor/trailer combinations, tractors, sugar beet carts and digger, bean picketing equipment, cultivators, ATVs, UTVs. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce: corn, hay, sugar beets, sunflowers, wheat, dry beans, chickpeas, millet, oats, rye, triticale.
