Job Duties:
Employees will be expected, but not limited to: General Farm labor. Corn: Must be able to identify and cull non-acceptable ears of corn grade and sort the product. Must pack in a prescribed manner to ensure that the best quality corn is packed at an acceptable pace. The ears of corn must be full, kernels uniform on the cob, and complete from the base of the ear to the tip. Should be able to identify ears of corn that do not meet standard by feeling each ear before it is packed or discarded. Each ear must give the appearance of freshly picked, green – not discolored leaves, and without any dirt adhering to the ear of corn. Requires the packer must be diligent in observing the product and be able to detect any odor that would indicate that the corn is losing its freshness. Must be able to know by feeling the ear whether it meets the farms quality standards as to maturity. Workers must pick the top-most ear determined by the feel and observation corn smut, poor pollination, bird/raccoon damage, and other quality issues. Cotton/Soybeans: Perform all work within the safety guidelines established by local, state, and federal agencies as well as company policies. Conduct quality and food safety checks, as established by company policies and procedures. Safely start up, operate and shut down soybean processing equipment-including plant operations equipment as well as loading trucks. Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on operating equipment. Perform housekeeping and sanitation responsibilities as required. Perform job within established CGMP’s. Rice: Drive and operates rice-farm machinery to prepare land, till soil, build ditches and levees, and harvest rice crop: hitches farm implements to tractor, and drives tractor along existing swaths and contours of rice field to plow and level fields and build or shore up ditches and levees of flood irrigation system. Drive tractors with harrow attachment over aerially seeded fields to cover seeds with dirt. Sets mowing controls and drive combine through fields to cut and thresh rice, stopping to adjust controls when amount of grain observed in chaff and observed in grain hoppers exceed allowable amounts. Transfer grain from combine hopper to grain truck, using transfer auger. Patrols irrigation ditches to detect obstructions and earthen deterioration and removes debris and shores-up levees and ditches with shovel to ensure complete flooding of the fields. Starts irrigation pumps, removes levee gates, and breaks apart levees to flood or drain field sections as directed. Performs miscellaneous duties, such as cleaning and lubricating farm equipment, loading and unloading trucks, and completing minor repairs to existing buildings and fences. Workers may be responsible for transporting grain, no CDL required, to elevators and maneuvering grain cart attachments. Miscellaneous duties in and around shop, including but not limited to small tool work, machinery repair and other daily maintenance. Workers, with valid license, may be required to drive workers to/from the fields, grocery store and other errands.

Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older. Must have three (3) months experience in general farm labor, operating machinery, equipment mechanics, and harvesting soybeans/rice /corn required. Valid drivers license required to drive farm vehicles or must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30-90 days of hire. Employer may conduct Background Checks to all new applicants at the Owners expense. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. Lifting requirement of 5 - 40 lbs. Most of the workday is spent in agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, humid and other natural elements. Workers should expect periods of little/no work during growing/harvesting time. Due to nature of business and equipment used, repetitive movements such as pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping and bending.
