- We prepare the ground for the planting and harvesting of corn, soybeans and wheat. We will begin the process in March and it will continue until we complete harvest in November, then we will have the job of cleaning up the equipment and getting it put away for the winter, which will wrap up mid-December. Our summers consist of mowing and spraying around fields, grain systems and the shop buildings as well as routine maintenance on equipment and buildings. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, operate other farm equipment, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, handtrucks, forklifts, or transfer augers, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, record agricultural data, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping, load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities, operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops, record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, clean equipment or facilities, harvest agricultural products, operate farming equipment, prepare land for agricultural use, transport crops, or equipment. Complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
