Job Duties:

Operate 60 hp tractors, cultivators, forklifts, wheelbarrows and other machinery/ equipment to fertilize, cultivate, and spray field grown flowers to include dahlias, ranunculus, tulips, zinnias, cosmos, scabiosa, heirloom chrysanthemums and poppies. Move bags and flats of fertilizer for care and feeding of flower beds. Layout and maintain flower beds. Layout, maintain and repair irrigation lines and drip irrigation systems. Inspect plants and bud counts to assess quality. Spray flowers with prescribed organic preparations to control for diseases and insects. Will transplant seedlings and cuttings. Move containerized plants, and flowers, using wheelbarrows or nursery carts. Will be doing extensive weeding and hoeing during growing season. Work will require extensive bending and stooping. Will use hand cutters, pruners and snips to harvest flowers. Will bunch and sleeve harvested flowers according to type and place in buckets specific to flower type. Will prepare tags and orders for shipping. Employer will furnish to workers, without cost, all tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable work clothing. Work temperatures may range from 40 degrees to 90+ degrees F and some work may be done in the rain, wind and sun. Due to health and safety concerns relating to organic treatment applications and the operation of equipment on our farm, workers are required to have the ability to comprehend simple oral and written instructions in English. After hiring, employer may conduct random drug tests at employer’s expense. Workers referred against this order must have a minimum of 3 months experience in performing tasks described in this order within an organic growing operation.

a. Workers must be able to demonstrate that they are physically able to perform the work as described. b. The employer will provide 0 days of training for worker to reach production standards c. Employer may require worker to perform any available general farm work if the guarantee referenced in Section 17a Additional Assurance for Clearance Orders is invoked. d. Employer may terminate worker with timely notification to the NPC and DHS, if the worker: 1) Refuses, without cause, to perform work for which the worker was recruited and hired; 2) Commits serious acts of misconduct; 3) Abandons Job (Job Abandonment) is absent for five consecutive previously scheduled days without prior notification to employer.
