Job Duties:

The job involves a variety of agricultural tasks associated with blueberry farming, including tractor operations, plant care, harvest activities, and shipment preparation. Specific duties include: 1.) Tractor Operations: Approved and supervised application of fertilizers and pesticides. Operating machinery for deweeding and sawdust application to manage weeds effectively. 2.) Blueberry Pruning and Planting: Pruning blueberry plants to ensure optimal growth and yield. Planting replacement blueberry plants for those that have died, ensuring consistent field productivity. 3.)Harvesting Activities: Operating machinery for the harvesting of blueberries intended for the U.S. fresh market. Ensuring berries are harvested efficiently and meet quality standards for market distribution. 4.) Loading and Unloading: Loading harvested blueberries onto trucks for shipment. Unloading as necessary to facilitate processing or storage. 5.) Sawdust Application: Applying sawdust around blueberry plants to suppress weed growth and improve soil conditions. Workers are required to perform these tasks in compliance with all safety protocols and under supervision when necessary, ensuring that all work is conducted efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

The farm hands must be able to safely and effectively drive a tractor for field work and lift weights regularly of at least 50 lbs. Clean drivers license record required as well for driving berry trucks (non-cdl license required for berry trucks). License level required is for normal passenger vehicles as the trucks are non air brake equipped trucks The trucks travel to the weighing station in Aumsville, approximately 10 minutes away. The 50 lbs of weight carried is berry trays to and from the truck decks, this unloading task requires the ability to safely carry 50 lbs.
