- Job Duties:
- Workers will perform any combination of the following tasks: feeding and or watering livestock (cattle/horses) as needed; herd livestock to pastures for grazing; examine animals to detect diseases and or injuries; make herd health evaluations as needed; manually restraining animals; herding livestock; apply medications/vaccinations to livestock, spray livestock with insecticide; assist with castrations; ear notch, tag and hot brand livestock; must be able to ride and handle horses in a manner to ensure safety of worker, co-workers and the animals while herding, castrating, branding, tagging, vaccinating and feeding cattle. Horse care includes stall cleaning, feeding and training. Must be able to cut, spray herbicide and clear brush on property and fence rows with hand tools, chainsaws, repair/maintain fences; install and repair water lines and maintain water tanks/troughs. Must be willing to and be able to work on horseback and or on foot, must be able to operate farm/ranch equipment (tractors, skid steers, ATV, etc); must be able to operate tractor for pasture care management (spraying, fertilizing, shredding, pest control) and to feed livestock. Employees will be required to mow, weed eat and maintain grounds. Employees will work outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures, poisonous snakes and predators. The work schedule will be Monday to Sunday. Off days rotates. Must be available for weekend work Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping Involves lifting and carrying of 100 lbs frequently
The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
