- Job Duties:
- Temporary farm laborer needed for horse breeding farm. Job duties include daily upkeep along with repairs & maintenance to shops, barns, stalls, fences, grounds and farm roads. Sweep and rake alleys and concrete of the barn. Operate & maintain farm equipment. Mow grass, rake, dig ditches & remove debris, trash, brush and weeds, etc. Use of hand tools (shovels, sprayer, hoses, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, knives, etc.). Watering horses, along with maintaining water levels and cleaning water buckets, Daily feeding, grooming and exercising of horses; loading and unloading of trucks and trailers, including the transportation of pregnant mares to and from birthing facility. Assist in the administering of medication to animals as needed. Loading, unloading and stacking of hay bales for horses. Purchasing and storing horse feed as needed.
Perform extensive physical activities using repetitive body movement for long periods such as to climb, lift up to 70lbs, balance, walk, bend, stretch, twist, kneel, push, pull & handle materials. Possible contact with snakes, alligators, insects, frogs, etc. Able to work outside in inclement weather conditions from exposure to extreme heat to cold & rain. Pre-employment drug screening is not required; however, once hired employer reserves the right to request all workers to submit random drug screening throughout employment at no cost to worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination. Time may vary due to unforeseen mechanical problems, severe weather conditions or other acts that are uncontrolled by employer.
