Job Duties:

Crops/Commodities: Hemp. Duties will include the following: - Field Preparation: Laying plastic mulch and irrigation lines, supporting the equipment and drivers. - Plant Germination: Assisting greenhouse lead with seedling propagation and watering. - Planting: Riding a transplanting machine and putting seedlings in the machine so the machine can plant them in the ground to ensure maximization of plant success rate. - Cultivation: Removal of invasive weed species by mechanical and hand means. Identify “male” plants and remove them according to proper SOPs. - Irrigation: Monitor for leaks in the irrigation system and fix them accordingly. General Maintenance: Work will include maintaining, repairing, and cleaning fencing, buildings, and general farm areas and other duties as directed by a supervisor. - Harvest: Assist with cutting plants, drying plants, and machine separation of plants and fiber into biomass. - Logistics: Assist with loading and unloading trucks, using pallet jacks, and working around forklifts. Work will consist of 95% outside farm work with some indoor greenhouse work. Job Requirements: - The ability to work outside, at length, while standing. During working hours, temperatures in fields can range from 10 to over 100 degrees F. - The ability to bend, squat, twist, and lift approximately 50 lbs. - Willingness to wear required safety gear when necessary: closed-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, N95 masks, and occasionally hard hats. - Willingness to work well with others and contribute to the farm’s safety culture. - Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. - This job requires a minimum of one (1) month of agricultural experience handling manual and mechanized tasks. - Applicants must be able to furnish verbal or written statements establishing relevant prior work experience. - The employer will provide no training.
