Job Duties:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Willing to commit for the entire season. Orchard Maintenance - Orchard Maintenance includes weeding, pruning, thinning, staking & spraying, and field clean up and training trees. Workers will use pruning clippers and saws. Workers will operate forklift. Workers will be responsible for the elimination of old and unproductive trees and plants. Building and Grounds Maintenance: Wash, clean, simple repair, mend fences, and paint existing farm buildings and farmhouses on grounds. Remove debris from the ground such as sticks, straw, rocks, paper, etc. Workers may be responsible for collecting garbage, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, and mopping floors. Workers will complete minor repair, maintain, and clean all hand tools and mechanical equipment. Planting Trees - Manually plant trees, paint tree trunks, and prune new trees. Workers will be required to do any other work deemed necessary to ensure trees are planted productively. Workers should take care not to damage or destroy other trees and plants or properties in the area. Workers involved in tree maintenance may be asked to install irrigation pipes, repair and maintain drip systems, hose, belts; distribute fertilizers, pick up roots and branches, sprouts or unwanted trees; dig root shoots, knock down trees, use a manual sprayer, remove vines and leash and tie fruit trees and plants. Pears and Apples - Climb ladders up to 18 feet in length carrying up to 40 pounds. Ties, wraps, and trains apple and pear trees. Care for trees during growing process. Recognize tree disease. Pick fruit according to size, color, and grade. Workers picking Fuji and Honey Crisp Apples must pick with great care not to bruise them. Workers must exercise care to prevent bruising or breaking of trees/fruit. Workers will use a harness, bucket, or bag while picking low hanging fruit while standing on the ground and higher branches while standing on a ladder. May transport workers to fields and grocery store.

Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years old or older. Workers must have 3 months experience in orchard/farm work. A valid drivers' license is required to transport workers to fields and grocery store. The employer may conduct criminal background checks on all new applicants for employment, at employers expense. Workers may stand in one place for long periods of time and must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift up to 60 lbs. while performing their required job duties. Most of the workday is spent in agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, humid, and other natural elements. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicated with supervisor when needed. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers.
