- Job Duties:
- The UNITEC Operator's job duties will consist of: Following the daily packing line schedule by selecting the correct cherry quality, quantity, box size and top, and confirming accuracy of label information (for example, cherry variety, cherry size, grower lot number, customer information); Following and enforcing food and employee safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, other food safety procedures and protocols; Monitoring second grade cherries and culls to confirm proper use of UNITEC Cherry Vision 3.0 technology; Observing packing line employees to ensure quality and conformity of packed product is according to specifications; Ensuring proper inspection and removal of defective product and packing material; Confirming adequate packing material stock (such as liner bags, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, and labels); Confirming that packing materials, including assembled boxes, meet food-safety requirements; Ensuring constant supply of packing material to conveyors and other feeding devices; Confirming that count and record of finished and rejected packaged items is accurate; Monitoring the production line, watching for problems such as pileups, jams, etc; Performing minor repairs and maintenance to UNITEC machinery; Making minor adjustments to UNITEC machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides, and regulating machine flow and speed; Establishing respectful working relationships with UNITEC representatives, company managers, packing house leads, maintenance personnel, vendors, and USDA and San Joaquin County Inspectors; Successfully delegate duties and assume responsibility for outcomes; Helping management during employee training in UNITEC equipment operations or work and safety procedures; Preparing and presenting required information at scheduled meetings; Accurately document corrective actions such as in employee performance and product/quality deviations; Recommend or implement measures to motive employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and efficiency; Effectively communicate with upper management and subordinates to resolve employee problems, complaints, or grievances; Effectively communicate with others to resolve production problems and UNITEC equipment malfunctions. This position will require occasional lifting of 100 lbs + with assistance of co-workers or lifting device. Employer will provide at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. Employer will provide two daily 35 minute meal breaks. There will be five (5) paid sick leave days as required by California law and pursuant to company policy.
In compliance with the federal laws and in accordance with the California Department of Industrial Relations
Agricultural Occupations Wage Order 14-2001 as amended, because Employer has more than 25 employees, the employee will be paid overtime after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week for work performed. Overtime pays are as follows: one and one-half (1 1/2) times the employee's regular rate of pay for all hours worked over eight (8) hours in any workday and double the employee's regular rate of pay for all hours worked over twelve (12) hours in any one
workday. The employee's regular rate of pay is $42.00 per hour, one and one-half times is $63.00 per hour, and double time is $84.00 per hour. Moreover, the overtime wages will be paid on every pay period, which is weekly.
