Job Description

Job Duties:
This operation is a diverse farm focused on a cow-calf operation, in addition to raising corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. The farm utilizes modern machinery to maintain and harvest its crops and livestock. The core of the operation is the cow-calf segment, where cattle are raised in a robust, well-managed environment. This part of the operation involves rotational grazing and care for young calves, which are raised to market weight for beef production. The farm grows a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and alfalfa, all essential for supporting both the livestock operation and crop sales. Corn and soybeans are grown for both grain and silage, while alfalfa is grown primarily for hay production for the livestock. For planting, the farm uses John Deere DB60 planters, which provide efficiency and precision in crop planting. These planters ensure the correct seed placement for optimum yields. The farm also uses John Deere S770 combines for harvesting the crops, ensuring an efficient and clean harvest of corn and soybeans. The John Deere 9RX tractors are deployed for various heavy-duty tasks, including tillage, planting, and other farm maintenance activities, offering excellent stability and power on the fields. During the summer months, the farm focuses on hay production. Round bale hay is harvested for winter feed, providing necessary nutrition to the cattle. This hay is stored for use during the colder months when grazing is not possible. The applicant will also need to be skilled in driving a semi truck for transporting crops, hay, and possibly livestock between the farm and other destinations like feed mills, markets, or auction yards. This farm operation combines modern agricultural practices with hard work and attention to detail, supporting both crop and livestock production. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: apply products such as fertilizers, pesticides, growth inhibitors, etc; attach/detach implements; clean work areas; haul and spread materials such as but not limited to fertilizer to condition the soil; load crops and drive trucks to transport to and from fields and/or storage locations or facilities; load and unload materials and commodities; load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields; maintain grounds and landscaping, mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter, spreader, sprayer type machinery; operate self propelled machinery; repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools.
