Job Duties:
The job offered requires that the worker be available for work seven (7) hours per day Monday through Thursday and six (6) hours per day on Friday and Saturday every day that work is available and for the full anticipated period of employment, even though work may be slack for a brief period of time. The worker agrees to be available for work and perform assigned tasks whenever work is available throughout the full anticipated period of employment. Work available is defined as no work required on the worker's sabbath or federal holidays, but work is required seven (7) hours per day Monday through Thursday and six (6) hours per day on Friday and Saturday. Sloppy work cannot and will not be tolerated. Excessive absences and/ or tardiness cannot be tolerated and may result in termination. The possession, use, or being under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol during working time is prohibited. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Tasks include, but are not limited to harvesting, planting, plant maintenance, weeding, general farm activities, and tractor driving. Workers must not hinder another worker's productivity. There is an initial training period of one week. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Job duties require exposure to extreme temperatures, prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Workers must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs. repetitively throughout the day. All workers are required to follow common sanitary practices. Workers are required to cleanse their hands by washing thoroughly with soap and water before performing job duties and after each break. Smoking and the use of tobacco products is prohibited during work hours. The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker's refusal or negligent failure to return the tools. The employer will also charge the worker for damages due to such worker's willful damage or destruction of the tools. The use of a personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours is strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. Though not a hiring requirement, if a worker drives a company vehicle during the period of employment, then at the time of operating the company vehicle the driver must possess a valid driver license issued by a U.S. state or foreign equivalent and operate the company vehicle in accordance with the license restrictions and vehicle classifications applicable to that license. Harvesting: The worker will walk to the designated plant bed assigned for harvesting. The worker will be assigned a row and in a bending position the worker will harvest cuttings with a guide to the specified size as indicated by the supervisor. The worker will harvest plants until the indicated quantity has been reached. The cuttings are placed in a plastic bag which are then placed in a cardboard box and loaded on to a cart once the box has been filled. Planting: The worker will walk to the designated plant bed assigned for planting. The worker will be given plant cuttings to plant in the plant bed as specified by the supervisor. Weeding/ Plant Maintenace: The worker will pull weeds from the plant bed and trim plants to maintain the plant bed. Tractor Driving: The worker will drive the tractor to designated plant bed. The driver will take carts with harvesting supplies to the field for the workers and will load and unload boxes with harvest cuttings.
