- Job Duties:
- Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and prepare soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest, grade, wash and bunch crops and herbs where appropriate. Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest fruits. These crops include, all-natural vegetables to include herbs, mixed greens, beans, tomatoes, peppers, squash, eggplant and several types of Asian vegetables. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties will include tilling soil and applying new compost; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops. Set up, operate, monitor & maintain irrigation system. Sort, pack, bunch, wash vegetables and berries, and load trucks for CSA and markets. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Apply new compost to crops. Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. Will monitor fields & high tunnels for plant infestations and use treatments appropriate for all-natural farming, use in both a preventative or infestation situation. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Clean and sanitize work areas, harvest areas as necessary. Record information about crops, such as yields, or costs. Must have experience working at production standards and must have experience in working with farm sanitary and safety practices as required in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) plans., workers are required to have the ability to comprehend simple oral and written instructions. After hiring, employer may conduct random drug tests at employer’s expense. Must be physically able to lift up to 80 pounds *Workers referred against this order must have a minimum of 3 months experience in performing tasks described in this order within an all-natural environment.
