- Agricultural equipment operators (AEOs) may operate, service, and/or repair a variety of farm equipment. AEOs will, with supervisor’s instructions; diagnose, repair, and overhaul engines, transmissions, components, electrical and fuel systems, etc. for various powered and rolling equipment such as cars, trucks, buses, farm equipment, and generators.
Agricultural equipment will include tractors, which could pull tillage equipment, dump boxes, planters, mowers, and other farm machinery, truck tractors, front loaders, skid steers, forklifts, vegetable harvesters, lawn mowers, and trailers hauling vegetables and/or grain to main farm location and/or to plants. Workers may drive a tractor with a herbicide spraying implement under direction of supervisors. Worker must be able to physically wear OSHA authorized safety PPE. The employer attests that workers will receive annual pesticide safety training in accordance with the Worker Protections Standard (WPS).
AEOs may haul fertilizer and/or water trucks to or from plant and/or main farm location to main farm location and/or farm field. The workers will operate semi-trucks to haul. Some vehicles/loads will exceed the GVW of 26,001lbs, necessitating a CDL or equivalent. AEOs will keep the inside and outside of the equipment clean and maintain service records. AEOs may transport workers, in addition to goods and commodities, on company business.
AEOs may also work inside buildings moving crates, pallets, etc. with skid steers and/or forklifts.
