Job Duties:

All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1. Misty Knoll Farm is an open range operation calling for a temporary need for workers during the growing and slaughtering season of May through December. This occupation is NOT year-round because the employer's needs are temporary. The whole operation is located on the farm and the number of poultry processed is 100% raised by Misty Knoll Farm. Workers are needed to assist in feeding, cleaning and raising poultry for slaughter. Workers will perform all facets of poultry cleaning, slaughtering and dressing of fowl in preparation for the market. Workers will catch and move fowl for processing, hang live poultry in shackles, and perform bleed out operations. Workers will perform knife cuts, remove, separate & prepare viscera, apply labels and record weights, as well as feed the poultry and clean the barns. Workers will be required to clean to USDA specifications any and all rooms, equipment, including blood pans, rendering barrels, floors, toilets and walls. The work is physically demanding, bending, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time will be required. Workers must be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 80 pounds. Workers must be available to work 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm, Monday through Saturday. Workers will be given a 60-minute lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 60 minutes are up. Workers will also receive a 15-minute break in the morning and a 15-minute break in the afternoon as agreed upon by the worker and management. Beginning and ending times may vary depending on crop conditions. Employers will notify workers of any change to the schedule. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform all duties assigned. Workers must be able to take directions in simple English.
