Job Duties:
Experience requirements will be: six (6) months for the listed position. Must be able to stand, walk in the field, or sit for extended periods of time Must be able to repeatedly bend over Must be able to run and move when herding and handling animals to prevent escape Must be able to safely and securely with help gain and maintain safe control of any size livestock. This includes proper and safe use of chutes, squeezes and tables. Must be able to lift 80 pounds and repeatedly lift and carry 50-pound feed sacks, lifting to a height of 5 feet. Required to: perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision, work independently or in small groups of workers; to drive, handle and maintain ranch vehicles in a manner to assure the safety and health of the worker and coworkers; to maintain equipment and machinery to a standard established by the employer, work outdoors in all types of weather and may experience occasional exposure to hazards such as poisonous snakes, biting insects and extreme temperature; work with and around farm machinery, and operate that machinery such as tractors with implements to perform feeding, watering and planting, and ATVs for irrigating and the movement of livestock; have or be able to legally obtain a valid drivers license and possess a driving record that meets company's insurance guidelines and policies. In order to perform this kind of work, workers must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength, mobility and endurance. The worker agrees to be available for work and perform the assigned work for the assigned employer whenever work is available through the full period of employment shown. Excessive absences and/or tardiness may result in termination. Daily individual work assignments, crew assignments, and location of work, will be made by and at the sole discretion of the employer and/or a designated co-worker that is in charge of a specific task as the needs of the ranching operation dictate. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and/or different tasks on different days. Workers will be expected to perform any of the listed duties as assigned by the employer. Workers may not report for work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The possession or use of illegal drugs or alcohol on company premises, is prohibited and will be cause for termination. Tobacco use strictly prohibited on company property except for specifically designated areas. No smoking, vaping or tobacco use of any kind permitted in the fields, company vehicles, on company premises. This is necessary to protect against transmission of toxins and contamination from tobacco by-products and fire danger. Employer reserves the right to discharge any employee found smoking in unauthorized areas. Work may include and is not limited to: Care for animals. Examining animals to detect illness, injury or other problems. Treat minor animal injuries or illnesses. Arrange for veterinarians to provide medical treatment. Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock by foot or ATV to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Mix feed, minerals, and medicines in prescribed portions. Shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food. Protect herds from predators, using trained dogs. Order food for animals, and arrange for its delivery. Patrol grazing lands using all-terrain vehicles. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed and water to animals. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products. Operate farming equipment.
