- Job Duties:
- Workers will be required to perform a variety of duties found in row crop farming:
Till soil, plant and cultivate grain.
Attach farm implements, such as plow, discs, sprayers, or harvesters and drill to tractors using bolts and hand tools.
Drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops.
Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust and spray crops.
Assist with irrigation - irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps.
Assist with maintenance and service of irrigation equipment.
Load and unload crops or containers of materials, manually or using conveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers.
Observe and listen to machinery operations to detect equipment malfunctions.
Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural productions, such as tractors, combines, and irrigation equipment.
Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions.
Load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates,
shovels, or pitchforks.
Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information.
Drive farm truck to haul crops, tools, and supplies.
