Job Duties:
All job duties are closely and directly related to the harvest and post-harvest of crops and tending pregnant livestock and their young offspring. The larger percentage of the work activities will be related to tending livestock. Perform any combination of the following tasks to attend pregnant livestock and their young(sheep and cattle) during the fall and winter birthing season: assist in the maintenance of tools, equipment and handling facilities necessary to production; assist in the shearing of sheep by herding sheep into corrals and through the shearing plant; attend to pregnant livestock and newborn offspring in hot fall months and cold winter months; brand, tag, clip or otherwise mark young animals for identification purposes; repair and/or maintain fence and facilities to ensure the safety and health of animals and forage; clean and disinfect livestock corrals, pens and handling facilities; ensure newly born offspring stand and nurse; guard against predatory animals and from eating poisonous and/or noxious plants; identify and sort twin lambs and their mother; identify livestock that are preparing to give birth; identify sheep that need it and trim feet ; intensely monitor and treat both mother and young offspring vulnerable to hot or cold temperatures and sickness; keep accurate record of new lambs born; lift and stack bales of hay and sacks of grain and mineral onto a feed truck or wagon; move livestock to appropriate grazing areas to avoid undue stress on livestock; report to employer dehydration & other indicators of deterioration in animal body condition/behavioral changes indicating malnutrition or disease; set up and take down temporary lambing pens; use proper animal husbandry skills to prevent heat stress/hypothermia/abortion/death Perform any combination of the following tasks required in equipment operation, farmwork, and the harvest of crops: adjust alignment of pipes ; adjust gates and pipe connections to control water flow; adjust valves to start and/or adjust water flow; adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions; apply, monitor, and control fertigation (applying fertilizer through irrigation) chemicals applied through irrigation system; assemble and place pipe in assigned patterns in fields; conduct post-harvest irrigation of soil, irrigation with flood irrigation; evaluate the condition of the crop/weather and adjust harvesting and post-harvest activity based on evaluation; loading/unloading trucks; maintain/drive/attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, apply chemicals and harvest crops; maintenance of farm structures and farm grounds; Mix specified materials or chemicals; observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions; operate and tend equipment such as tractors, backhoes, forklifts, water trucks and digital irrigation equipment; operate and tend equipment used in agricultural harvest and post-harvest activities, such as tractors, combines, shakers, sweepers, water trucks, discing implements, and seed planters; operate maintain and repair all components of a sprinkler; operate multiple types of pumps; perform some maintenance and adjustments to implements/tractors/equipment; pruning and poling trees; removal of excess plant growth from farm grounds; remove pipe from fields and place in storage; remove pipe from storage; shovel and pack dirt in low spots or cut trenches to direct water flow; use proper material and methods to repair irrigation equipment

Required to: to ride, handle and tend horses in a manner to assure the safety and health of the worker, co-workers, horses, dogs and livestock, work with, repair and maintain both set field fence and temporary electric fence, spray pastures and/or fence lines for poisonous plants and/or noxious weeds with herbicides to prevent livestock from consuming them, comply with employers maintenance, operating, cleaning and sanitation protocols, perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision, live and work singly or in small groups of workers in isolated areas for extended periods of time, to operate equipment and machinery required to perform job duties indicated in a safe and responsible manner, work outdoors in all types of weather and may experience occasional exposure to hazards such as poisonous snakes, biting insects and extreme temperature, have or be able to obtain a valid drivers license and possess a driving record that meets companys insurance
