- Job Duties:
- Assist with the annual seasonal livestock breeding/birthing process. Calve and wean calves during the calving and weaning seasons. Pregnancy test the cows, vaccinate, medicate and treat for seasonal sicknesses. Care for newborn calves and nursing mothers during the fall, winter and early spring months when they require additional care due to fluctuating temperatures and seasonal sicknesses. Isolate sick calves. Treat prairie pneumonia. Monitor pregnant cows, nursing mothers and newborn calves. Transport and unroll hay bales. Feed cattle during snowy/subfreezing periods when no seasonal pasturelands remain available to naturally graze upon. Remove snow from farm property. Break ice formation in water tanks daily.
