Job Duties:
Field Workers: Potato Harvest, Sorting, Raking, Shoveling, Sweeping, Dumping, Removing Debris, Transplant, Shed Labor / Packing Facility (preparing freshly harvested crops for shipment in their original, unmanufactured state on the farm), stacking & packing, Sanitation & Product Sampling, General Farm Labor / General Ranch Maintenance, Field Safety/Food Safety/Sanitation activities, Potato Harvest The worker works on top of a harvesting machine. Under the direction of the field Supervisors, the worker checks and determines quality of product by selecting and removing product that does not meet the required packing standards. As the product passes through the band, employee removes dirt and other objects. Field Cleaning Workers walk in uneven furrows. Under the direction of the field supervisor, field workers look for potato plants that do not meet the standard, once identified, the worker bends at the waist and manually removes the potato plant. Puts the plant inside a bag to dispose of it. Weeding: Field employee to perform the following duties: Employees walk on uneven furrows. Under the direction of the field supervisor, field employees look for weeds around crops and in between product seed lines and use a hoe to weed out unwanted product and weeds. The employee cleans the lot for any unwanted weed on the beds and seed lines and takes it out of the field as instructed by the field supervisor. Thinning: Workers walk in uneven furrows. Under the direction of the field supervisor, field workers look for the specified gap between seeds, and using a hoe thins out any excess crop/seeds and/or weed on the seedline and leaves the desired product and gap on the field. The worker cleans the lot for any unwanted weed on the beds and seed lines and takes it out of the field as instructed by the field supervisor. Agricultural Equipment Operators – Workers operate agricultural equipment including tractors, forklifts, and harvest machines. Duties may include: rinsing and inspecting equipment before, during, and after shift; Operating equipment during harvest or other farming activities; Opening and closing the machine and taking extensions in and out; driving machines onto transporting dolly or trailers to be moved to other fields; under the direction of the field Supervisor, workers manipulate knob, levers, and wheels at operation station to manage speed, direction, and function of the equipment; fills water solution from storage tanks to tractor tanks for operation in the field; transports trailers from fields to yards and tarps loads. On the farm spud truck spud truck operators from farm to silo: incident to and in conjunction with other agriculture operations on the farm, on the farm spud truck operators will perform secondary agriculture functions at the potato storage sites, as described at 29 CFR 780.105(c). Employees will perform on the farm spud truck operating to/from storage sites and from farm to silo. Employees will never drive on public roads (but may cross them) during the work shift. Employee loads/unloads harvested product at the storage site. Employees are delivering to locations that are on the farm already listed (owned/operated by the same grower) Crew Lead/Row Boss:   Under the direction of the Supervisor: Crew Lead, monitors the work of other farm workers by assisting with checking crew’s quality of work and product’s quality, and helps coordinate daily production and work, all of which are listed under SOC Code 45-2092 for Farmworkers.  This is a nonsupervisory position. The Crew Lead does not develop or implement training or supervise health and safety compliance. Those responsibilities belong to the First-line Supervisor/Foreperson assigned to each crew.

Requirements: 3-months experience harvesting potatoes. Written verification of experience is required. Workers must stand, sit, crouch, bend, reach, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds in the course of performing required activities. Workers must be able to listen, understand, and follow instructions of company supervisors and managers. Ability to communicate in English or Spanish is encouraged for training and safety purposes. Workers must be able to physically perform the work stated herein.
