Job Duties:

Workers will perform physically demanding agricultural tasks associated with the planting, raising, cultivating, harvesting, and production of nursery crops and horticultural plants. Duties include manually tilling soil, digging planting holes, mixing soil and fertilizers, and transplanting delicate seedlings into containers under time-sensitive production schedules. Workers must frequently lift and carry heavy containers (up to 60 lbs), operate motorized equipment such as tractors, and safely load/unload boxed plants and materials onto trucks. Additional responsibilities include applying pesticides and herbicides in accordance with safety standards, constructing and maintaining shade structures, installing irrigation lines, and performing detailed pruning and shaping of plants to meet commercial aesthetic standards. Work is performed in hot, cold, and humid conditions. Long periods of standing, repetitive motion, kneeling, and exposure to dust and chemicals are required. Must follow all safety protocols and employer instructions. Tools and equipment will be provided at no cost. An employee shall not be employed more than 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week unless they receive 1½ times the regular rate for hours over 8/day or 40/week, and double time for hours over 12/day.

Applicants must be able to perform work that requires sustained physical strength, including frequent bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects (up to 60 lbs) and working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including high heat and humidity. No formal education or prior experience is required. However, workers must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions, comply with safety rules, and work efficiently as part of a team. The job may involve repetitive motion, working with agricultural chemicals, and exposure to dust and pollen. Employer will provide job-specific safety training and all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) at no cost to the worker.
