Job Duties:

Conduct experiments to investigate the underlying mechanisms of plant growth and response to the environment on the farm. Investigate responses of soils to specific management practices to determine the use capabilities of soils and the effects of alternative practices on soil productivity, while investigating soil problems or poor water quality to determine sources and effects on the farm. Identify degraded or contaminated soils and develop plans to improve their chemical, biological, or physical characteristics, while providing advice regarding the development of regulatory standards for land reclamation or soil conservation on the farm. Develop ways of altering soils to suit different types of plants and conduct experiments investigating how soil forms, changes, or interacts with land-based ecosystems or living organisms on the farm. Special Requirements:

Minimum of 48 months of experience is required. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English.
