Job Duties:
Strawberries: Duties may vary from time to time. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Workers will lay plastic to build bed of strawberry fields and plant strawberries from containers from specified locations. Strawberries grow on low-lying plants, so you must have the endurance and strength to bend over for a long period of time. Prune strawberry bushes by hand using pruning shears and loppers. Remove debris from fields using hoes, shovels, baskets, etc. Worker must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required duties. Shovel, haul, spread manure, dig holes, ditches, and trenches. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, pulling weeds, raking, cleaning around shed area, thinning or pruning crops, applying pesticides, cleaning, grading, and packing harvested product. Packing house is on the farm. Inspect field irrigation systems; replace damaged pipes, valves, water jets, sprinklers, etc. using necessary equipment. **Use hand tools such as: shovels, hoes, brooms, scissors, shears, and knives. Duties also include cleaning, loading, and unloading harvested products. May be asked to drive a tractor in Strawberry fields spraying herbicides, spreading fertilizer, plowing, and laying plastic. WATERMELONS – Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Duties may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, pulling weeds, raking, cleaning around shed areas, thinning/pruning crop, applying pesticides, tying, loading and unloading stakes, cleaning, and operating forklift and driving a tractor. Workers may also take cuttings for propagation, repair drip irrigation, perform irrigation work, dig ditches and trenches, assist with laying and/or removal of plastic mulch, and perform daily farm maintenance. Plant produce by hand placing into pre-dug holes along rows. Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Workers must take care to handle tools, equipment and produce in a manner to avoid injury or damage. The employer will comply with all federal, state, and local safety requirements. Operational specifications can change during the season due to crop or market condition. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given for each day’s work. Instructions and general supervision will be provided by the employer or a designated employee. Workers will have close supervision to insure adherence to instructions. Work will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality. Daily individual work assignments. General farm labor. Workers may drive forklift or tractor from time to time. Workers may be asked to transport workers to housing, worksite(s), and/or grocery store.

Must be 18 years or older. Employer may conduct criminal background check at employers expense. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. Valid drivers license is required to operate company vehicles. The majority of the day is spent on ones feet. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift. Lifting Requirement is 60 lbs. Worker must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. Workers should expect periods of little/no work because of weather/crop/other conditions beyond the employers control. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described.
