Job Duties:

Cattle are confined for calving in the fall, while confined they are fed through the winter, employees will vaccinate them in the spring, and wean the calves off in March. They are released to pastures in the spring and no further feeding will be needed. Job duties will include: operating tractors, manure spreaders, and other farm equipment; driving farm trucks to haul feed and supplies; feeding and watering livestock while monitoring food and water supplies; herding livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures; examining animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and checking physical characteristics such as rate of weight gain; providing medical treatment, including administering medications and vaccinations, or arranging for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment; marking livestock to identify ownership and grade using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos; driving trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals; segregating animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition; inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, and yards; moving equipment or livestock from one location to another manually or using trucks or carts; cleaning stalls, pens, and equipment using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps; mixing feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions; shifting animals between grazing areas to ensure they have sufficient access to food; patrolling grazing lands using all-terrain vehicles; treating animal injuries or illnesses; transporting animals, crops, or equipment; and cleaning equipment or facilities. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Job requires extensive pushing or pulling, extensive sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Requires 3 months farm experience.
