- Job Duties:
- Perform a variety of service and repair work on farm machinery and farm property. Service equipment: Tractors, combines, and planters are cleaned, oiled, and repaired to prevent breakdowns during the busy season. Equipment that handles grain or fertilizer receives a deep cleaning to prevent rust. Organize the shop: The workshop is stocked with parts and fluids to prepare for spring, and old, unused parts may be cleared out. Maintain the property: Inspect and repair outbuildings, such as barn roofs and storage silos, as well as fences and irrigation systems. Move snow: Plow snow from roads and paths to reach barns and silos. The work day may begin / end earlier or later on any given day and evening. Typical workweek is Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., with potential nights and weekends required depending on the weather.
