Worker will be performing duties associated with SOC 45-2093-Livestock Worker to help produce goats and cattle. Duties performed will include: Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Worker will assist with the demolition and removal of dilapidated buildings on the farm. Perform carpentry work to renovate interior spaces of homes and office on the farm. Repair and maintain equipment used for livestock production including pens, enclosures, chutes, bunks, troughs, stall, corrals, etc. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps and power-washers. Move equipment, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births. Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. Assist with snow removal and debris. Break ice during times of freezing weather to ensure livestock have access to fresh water. Must speak and understand English.
