- Job Duties:
- Prepare bees and beekeeping equipment. Prepare beehives to be shipped out for pollination services. Load and unload beehives. Receive beehives after the pollination period has ended. Feed and medicate bees. Monitor and maintain beehives. Extract and package honey. Build and repair bee boxes and other beekeeping equipment. Sanitize plant and winterize facility at the end of the beekeeping season. A general work week is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, because of the complexity of the crop conditions workers may be requested to work long days as well as on Saturdays, Sundays or Federal Holidays, depending upon the conditions of the commodities being produced. Therefore, hours above 40 per week may be offered but are not guaranteed. Grounds for immediate termination include, but are not limited to, use of illegal drugs, operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, vandalizing employer housing, equipment, or vehicles, or being charged with a misdemeanor or felony. The employer will provide at least one worker per crew with an employer provided electronic communication device, such as a cell phone or similar wireless device, without charge or deposit to the worker. This device will be available at all times during the period of employment to enable communication with persons capable of responding to workers’ needs in case of an emergency.
