- Job Duties:
- Care for sows and piglets from birthing through weaning. Majority of workdays consist of hands-on swine farrowing and weaning activities, including newborn care, feeding, watering, sanitation, animal movement, and routine husbandry under veterinary direction. Protocol development, data analysis, and staff training functions are secondary duties and do not exceed 50 percent of the workdays during the contract period. Implement and stabilize the new insemination technology and piglet management protocols. Ability to safely guide and move 500 lb sows during weaning. Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
