- Job Duties:
- Prepare calving facility. Calve out calves during the calving season. Medicate, vaccinate and treat for seasonal sicknesses. Care for newborn calves and nursing mothers. Monitor newborn calves and nursing mothers. Isolate sick calves. Castrate, brand, clip and tag newborn calves. Feed cattle during snowy/subfreezing periods when no seasonal pasturelands remain available for them to naturally graze upon. Bale, stack and haul hay. Add dry bedding. Remove snow from farm property. Break ice formation in water tanks daily. Fix and repair fencing damaged by drifting snow. Move cattle to and from summer grazing pastures. Wean all calves during the weaning season. Operate farming equipment in order to plant, spray, harvest and haul foraging crops. General farm maintenance duties such as servicing equipment and shop work.
