Job Duties:
Crops: Perennials, Ornamental Grasses, Flowering Shrubs, Evergreen Shrubs, Deciduous Shrubs, Fruit-Bearing Shrubs & Trees, Roses, Vines, Ferns, Groundcovers, Container Trees, Conifers, Broadleaf Evergreens Main Job Duties 1. Tagging plants 2. Pulling plants for trucks and orders 3. Loading delivery trucks 4. Potting of all sizes of plants 5. Cleaning and straightening of all sheds 6. Washing trucks and equipment 7. Field work (weeding, pruning, spacing) and fertilizing 8. Moving plants 9. Application of fertilizer to plants 10. Verification of order quality and counts 11. Spacing plants as instructed 12. Spraying of insecticides and fungcides Detailed Job Duties Wholesale Container Nursery Production 1. Planting or potting of nursery stock – 1 to 25 gallon size 2. Weeding of container nursery stock 3. Watering of container nursery stock 4. Tagging of container nursery stock – for ID and sales 5. Apply fertilizer (granular?) to container nursery stock for season, by hand and by machine 6. Pruning of container nursery stock and container trees 7. Spacing of container nursery stock and container trees 8. Moving plants out of greenhouse to growing areas 9. Moving plants from growing areas into greenhouse; packing for winter 10. Unloading of recently potted container nursery stock to growing areas 11. Moving plants out of greenhouses to growing areas 12. Moving plants from growing areas to greenhouses; packing for winter 13. Leveling out of ground used for growing area, covering with plastic sheathing and ground cover typar cloth 14. Cleaning out of bare-root tree and shrub bed to prepare for delivery of bare-root trees and shrubs 15. Unload bare-root trees and shrubs from delivery trucks and put in toe in bed – for bare-root trees, cover with mulch material to hold them until potting 16. Mix and dip bareroot trees and shrubs in TerraSorb root moisture agent before they go in toe in bed. Also they get dipped before potting 17. Unload trucks loaded with plastic pots 18. Learn to operate tractors and loaders – John Deere and Kubota for moving and hauling; John Deere Gators to provide transportation of people and haul plants around nursery. Learn how to operate saw and electric powered trimmers to prune plants. Chain saws, pole and standard. Weedeaters for mowing. Power blower for cleaning off nursery growing beds. 19. Move pallets and tires to nursery growing areas in fall to weigh down plastic and typar cloth during winter 20. Remove pallets and tires in the spring and move to storage areas 21. Put up greenhouse shading in late spring and early summer; remove and store in early fall 22. Count container nursery stock and record fertilizer applications on a form – for location inventory and fertilizer records 23. Assist in putting up greenhouse plastic over hoop greenhouses and lone plant covers. Remove in spring. Job Duties Continued on Addendum C

Special Requirements:
2 months experience working in a commercial greenhouse. On-site-training for curtain task. Applicants must furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. All drug testing will occur after the worker begins his or her employment and is not a part of the interview process. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination. SUBSTANCE ABUSE POLICY: This employer will strive to provide a safe and healthful work environment, free of substance abuse, for the protection of our associates, employees and visitors. The use, possession or being under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol during working time is prohibited.
