- Job Duties:
- Workers will perform a variety of tasks on a small family grain farm cultivating wheat, barley, soybeans, pinto beans, corn, and canola. Duties include operating tractors and machinery for field preparation, planting, spraying, haying, and harvesting. Specific tasks are driving Cat and John Deere tractors, Case combines, manual semi-trucks, skid steers, rakes, balers, and lawn mowers. Workers will pick rocks, haul grain to local elevators, load and unload seed and chemicals, fill water tanks, bag grain, pick up grain bags, maintain and repair equipment, and clean the shop daily to uphold a safe, clean work environment. Spring work may involve removing previous season's grain bags and preparing equipment, while post-harvest tasks include fieldwork, cleanup, winterizing machinery, and off-season maintenance. Workers must have at least 12 months of experience, as the fast-paced spring season does not allow for training.
