Job Duties:

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, transport crops to elevator or storage area; cutting trees; and clearing land. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, back-hoes, mowers, excavator, chainsaw, weed eater, and track-hoes. Non-CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job will also require participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; building, constructing and maintaining levees, installing and removing levy gates and putting in spillways; loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; loading trailers with supplies relevant to the farm; changing combine cutting heads; using shovels in rice fields, rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; welding; cutting; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, farm grounds, pivot points, buildings, gates, barns and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, change tires as needed, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment, picking weeds in fields, painting equipment and farm building; regularly servicing equipment; receiving crop for drying and storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; sweeping and cleaning grain bins; and shoveling grain. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements:

Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive sitting, walking, stooping, bending, or repetitive movements. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
