Job Duties:
Skill level I workers wage rate starting at $13.94 with the opportunity to advance depending on performance during the contract season. Skill level II workers wage rate is $15.87 with the opportunity to advance depending on performance during the contract season. Job Duties-Attending to livestock, Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, milking, castrating,weighing, catching, and loading sheep. May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. May clean and maintain animal housing areas. Includes workers who shear wool from sheep. Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment as directed by employer. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals. Separate sheep according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to pasture. Protect herds from predators, using trained dogs. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate time frames, assist in performing artificial insemination, helping with animal births as directed by employer. Patrol grazing lands using all-terrain vehicles. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records. Groom, clip, trim, or castrate animals, dock ears and tails, or shear coats to collect hair. Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. Trim and shear heated hand shears, or hot wires. Worker will utilize tractor and farm equipment to bush-hog pastures, move and spread manure, cut, rake and roll hay, spread fertilizer and all other related farming duties. Utilize tractor to move forage to storage and/or feed livestock, weed eat and mow around barns, buildings, and fence rows.

The employer will train the workers with no experience for a period of two day after which the worker will be expected to work without constant supervision. Tools and Equipment: The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required in the performance of the specified work. Workers will be charged for any willful damage or loss of such tools, equipment and employer provided housing. Employer reserves the right to preform drug screen if worker is suspected to be working/operating any vehicle, tractor, farm equipment, and/or hand held electric/battery operated tools while under the influence of drug or alcohol. Operating any motor vehicle or electric/battery operated tools could cause serious injury to worker and peers and is prohibited by law, cautioned against in owners manuals. Injuries incurred while under the influence of drugs or alcohol can void compensation from workmans' comp insurance.
