Job Duties:

We need a seasonal employee to assist with backgrounding cattle, which is a time-limited operation tied to cattle purchase and intake cycles. The primary need for additional labor occurs when cattle arrive, as processing requires extra help beyond what our full-time employee can provide. This includes receiving cattle, moving them through handling facilities, administering vaccinations and medical treatments, processing, feeding, watering, and monitoring health. Backgrounding cattle is not a year-round labor need. After the intake and processing period, the cattle are managed and maintained by our full-time employee for the remainder of the year. As a result, this position is typically needed only 6 to 9 months per year, depending on cattle availability and market conditions. During the season, the worker may also assist with general farm duties directly related to livestock and crop production, including operating tractors and farm equipment; preparing fields; planting, spraying, irrigating, and harvesting crops; maintaining irrigation systems; hauling crops or supplies; feeding and caring for livestock; cleaning and maintaining pens, fences, and equipment; and performing routine maintenance and repairs on farm machinery and facilities. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
