Job Duties:
Drew’s Honeybees is looking for an Apiary Manager to collaborate with our team as we transition to keeping bees without treatments. They will monitor, note, plan, and respond to the variable conditions of a beekeeping season. Responsibilities include identifying strong and weak hives; making nucleus colonies to remove weak genes and propagate strong genetics; adding honey boxes; assessing queen vigor and hive health; monitoring and treating bees for Varroa destructor; maintaining bee yards; adding and removing equipment according to the season and hive productivity; building and maintaining bee equipment; driving work vehicles to bee yards, which are on employer farm property; mowing and upkeep of bee yards (including electric fencing); maintenance of roads to access to apiaries. The Apiary Manager will extract and bottle honey for sale. Because we will rear queens in specialized colonies, experience raising queen honey bees is helpful. Drew’s Honeybees Inc. will provide all equipment, vehicles, tools, and other equipment necessary for the successful completion of this position. The Apiary Manager must have deep experience working with honey bees and an eagerness to learn and implement beekeeping practices better suited to honey bee biology. Days and hours will vary due to weather and temperature conditions. The Apiary Manager should be eager to observe and collaborate in a transition to natural, treatment-free beekeeping. The Apiary Manager must be able to lift at least 75 lbs. intermittently and communicate fluently in English.

Special Requirements:
The Apiary Manager must have deep experience working with honeybee husbandry and apiaries. Days and hours may vary due to weather and temperature conditions. The Apiary Manager should have an eagerness to observe and collaborate with rigorous, replicable scientific research as well. Ability to lift 75 lbs is required. Employer agrees to provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned. Worker must be able to communicate fluently in English.
