- Job Duties:
- Record information about crops, including pesticide use, yields, and costs; direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting; participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; harvest plants, fruits, and vegetables by hand; transplant, pot, and label plants; repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; set up, operate, maintain, and repair irrigation and climate control systems; inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress; identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine appropriate pesticide and fertilizer applications; operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled equipment to plow, harrow, fertilize, plant, cultivate, spray, and harvest crops; load agricultural products into trucks and transport them to market or storage facilities; clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; regulate greenhouse conditions and indoor and outdoor irrigation systems; monitor plant health by observing leaf texture and coloration to detect insects or disease; dig, rake, screen, and condition soil in preparation for planting; dig, cut, transplant, and move seedlings, shrubs, plants, and trees using wheelbarrows or tractors; tie, bunch, wrap, and pack plants and trees to fill orders; maintain inventory and order materials as needed; inspect plants and bud ties to assess quality; haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss, and other materials to condition soil; repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; and plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and prune plants, shrubs, and trees using appropriate tools.Farming with: Soy Beans
